When Clayton came to ANTA as part of our UKSPF programme he had not long finished his second year at college where he had been studying construction. Although he had the qualifications, he was still lacking a vital component before being able to work on a construction site. His CSCS card.
This shows an employer you have the right level of health & safety knowledge to work on site, and all reputable construction employers will require this before taking you on.
We were able to support Clayton through his Level 1 Health & Safety course at our offices on Telford, providing a reader for his exam so his dyslexia didn’t create a barrier.
He then went on to study for his final exam, and Clayton attended some of our revision sessions with other learners to help him prepare and feel more confident in passing. He went on to take the test and succeeded in passing first time so we were able to order his CSCS card for him.
Clayton’s support didn’t end there, and he attended job search sessions with ANTA where we helped him with applying for jobs as well as introducing him to employers. He has since gone on to find work with a local company where he is flourishing.
Of his time with ANTA, Clayton said “The support from ANTA is probably the best you’ll get because they don’t ever give up on you and try to get the best out of you. Getting my CSCS card has made a huge difference to me and created new opportunities and I’m working now because of it. ANTA will always help you when you need it.”
We were able to support Clayton thanks to UKSPF funding from Telford & Wrekin Council. If you’d like to find out more about how we can support you or someone you know. You can get in touch by emailing rachel@antaeducation.co.uk or calling 01952 973200.
