Theo was referred to ANTA Education via his work coach at the Job Centre after finding himself unemployed. He had some previous experience working for a subcontractor fitting bathrooms but left to do an Engineering Apprenticeship before deciding it wasn’t for him.
Theo had an idea to start his own business fitting bathrooms and knew he needed to gain his CSCS card to open up work opportunities on construction sites.
He signed up to the UKSPF programme, for which we are a delivery partner for Telford and Wrekin Council. The programme aims to help people overcome their barriers into work to find meaningful employment.
As well as needing his CSCS card to enable him to work safely on site, Theo also needed to be able to drive a vehicle for work but without employment was unable to afford to insure one.
Theo flew through the Level 1 Health & Safety Qualification with ANTA Education and CITB exam to gain his green card, but he then hit a stumbling block when it came to knowing what to do when setting up a new business from scratch.
Theo has been coming in for sessions with us where we have been able to offer advice around finances, accounting, insurance, marketing and much more. He is now set up as a Sole Trader and is in the process of creating a website and Facebook page to promote TC Bathroom Installations.
He already has some jobs lined up and is steadily building a reputation as a hardworking tradesperson.
Theo has been really grateful for the support he has had from ANTA Education, saying “Everything has been great. The course was good and the tutor knowledgeable. They have gone the extra mile for me in helping me set up my new business and their advice has been invaluable - thank you!”
We wish Theo the best of luck in his new endeavour!
