Cameron had been out of work for 4 months before he joined ANTA’s support programme. Issues with his mental health had, in his own words “created a big hurdle in gaining employment.”
He’d had some previous experience doing groundworks, so we enrolled him onto our CSCS card course where he started by gaining his Level 1 Health & Safety in Construction. This is a one-day course which ends with a multiple choice exam which Cameron passed first time. He said he really enjoyed the course and that the tutor was down to earth and really helpful.
Cameron was so determined to begin work he started looking around for opportunities. He secured an interview and we were able to coach him with his interview skills prior to attending. Although he wasn’t successful for this role, he attended a job search session at ANTA’s offices where we support with applications, ensuring CVs are up to date and honing interview skills. Not long after this he secured employment and is now back working in groundwork using dumpers and diggers.
Cameron says “If you can get support from ANTA then definitely go for it! They will help you no end in your life and with work”
